Solva Regatta Donations and Sponsorship

The Solva Regatta has been an important part of the village calendar for the last 130 years. All this time the events have been fully funded by the generous donations from locals, businesses and holiday makers. We rely on this funding to help cover the costs of organising the events including printing, medical safety cover, insurance, advertising, website maintenance, equipment renewal and administration.

We also ensure a competitive edge by offering prize monies for the Regatta. Every year in accordance with our ‘Regatta Constitution’ we allocate any surplus funds to causes in the village linked to children / youth activities eg. Solva Youth Club, Young SADS, Solva Junior Football, Church Smilers etc.

We have a passionate and enthusiastic Regatta Committee who fully appreciate any donation you can make to keep the traditional Regatta events alive and functioning.

So to answer the question, do you make a donation or sponsorship payment? Donations are normally made by private individuals / families who just wish to remain anonymous but help with funding. Sponsorship payments are normally made by businesses wishing to sponsor an event in the Regatta and therefore gain some advertising for their business. We do also have some families in Solva that sponsor races particular to a relative of theirs who in previous years have donated a trophy in their memory – we are committed very much to keeping this tradition.
